Since a couple of month I use to run the new YAESU FTM 350 radio in my car. I installed the remote controller with a special bracket designed for AUDI A6. Due to the two speakers installed in the remote head... I do not use any additional speaker anymore. a very nice feature is the single cable between remote and main body. I have one of the first FTM350 and had to return it once to the factory for a firmware upgrade to fix the “freeze” bug. The installation is done with the free “sky view” of the installed GPS antenna. So the acquisition time of the needed sat-info is short and the APRS beacon start to transmit usually just 3 minutes after start.

Here you can see the special bracket, available from several online shops. Just search for the bracket to fit a GPS navigator.... most of them work fine with a remote head of such ham radio equipment
Installation guide part 1
Installation guide part 2
don´t need any special tool. Fits perfect in existing mountigs, holes, plastic parts
Installed bluetooth headset, FTM 350 head as a charging adapter for the bluetooth headset. very easy to combine and easy to use. Due to the setup you can select if speakers will be switched on or of during headset operation. I had to set the transmitted voice level to maximum to get a proper signal on air
my favorite toy... FRP-1 the pager unit. I got is with my FTM 350 and still after 5 month now I have no idea to use it. if you have any suggestion for a easy to understand use of the unit... let me know :-)
Still thinking to create an award for the most useless accessory ever....
